PSG has done it again. After conceding a goal at home during a poor first half that booed Parc des Princes fans, the PSG stars secured another home win, 2-1 against defending champions LOSC Lille, to increase their own advantage at the top of the Ligue 1 standings in France.
Canadian international Jonathan David scored his eighth goal of the season at the top of the table for a well-deserved half-time advantage for a visit to Lille. Then Angel Di Maria and Neymar fired up the class in the final 15 minutes to help PSG score twice. Di Maria threw a perfect cross for captain Marquinhos to equalize, and then Di Maria combined with Neymar on a block pass and converted the winner in the 88th minute.
The Parisian team got the result without Kylian Mbappe (ear infection), who was sitting in the stands and then without Lionel Messi, who came out at half-time with what was reported as a muscle problem.

PSG (10-1-1, 31 points) have a comfortable 10-point lead over the second-place lens, which has a game in hand. The Parisians look forward to the UEFA Champions League group stage match against German side RB Leipzig in the middle of the week.
Defending champions Ligue 1 Lille will regret not increasing the lead in a dominant first half where it created multiple opportunities in transition.

Final: PSG 2, LOSC Lille 1
90 minutes: Four minutes of added time, but more will follow after both teams have made substitutions.
88 minutes: PSG Goals! Another flash of splendor from its stars. This time it’s Neymar and Angel Di Maria teaming up for the quick swap inside the top of the area and Di Maria applies the elegant one-off conclusion.
85 minutes: After Mauro Icardi gets a card for protests, PSG brings Julian Draxler onto the field and shortly after it is Neymar who sees yellow for a foul on Fonte.
84 minutes: What a chance for Icardi! His angled shot, intended for the far post, appears to have been touched by the goalkeeper, but no corner kick awarded.
79th minute: SUB – US international Tim Weah enters in place of Jonathan Ikone. Weah is a former PSG player.
76 minutes: SUB – Lille removes striker Burak Yilmaz in the center of Onana.
74 minutes: PSG Goals! Neymar and Di Maria combine on the left and Di Maria with the delicious ball on the far post and a wide open Marquinhos captain puts home the first half.
73 minutes: Angel Di Maria’s cross right on Mauro Icardi’s head and his diving header is wide. First chance for Icardi, who plays as a center forward.
69 minutes: PSG chance! Neymar finally takes the lead, passes a player and shoots on goal, but Lille central defender Jose Fonte blocks for a corner. Marquinhos finds a header from a set piece but misses the goal.
65 minutes: SUBSTITUTIONS – Two full backs replaced for PSG. Colin Dagba is the new right-back (in place of Thilo Kehrer) and Nuno Mendes takes the place of left-back for Juan Bernat.
64 minutes: Half a chance for PSG from set pieces, but Lille defended him well and goalkeeper Grbic caught him. Double sub coming to PSG.
56 minutes: What a chance for Lille! Yilmaz throws the cross into the box and Donnarumma sends the ball away before Jonathan Bamba can hit him with a header. Jonathan David fails to bring home the sequel when the ball hits him.
52 minutes: Penalty kick shouted for PSG, but no call from the referee. Meanwhile, the broadcast continues to show the contact in the box on Yilmaz on the previous chance for Lille. That was Presnel Kimpembe with the sliding tackle to stop him.
47 minutes: First chance for Lille! Jonathan Ikone to Jonathan David and Donnarumma leaves to fill it. Then David takes the rebound and serves it to Yilmaz who fails to make contact with a defender in convergence.
46 minutes: SUB – In place of Lionel Messi enters Mauro Icardi. Oh. Messi missed training on Thursday with what was called a “jab”, but no one expected this first replacement. The team says it’s a muscle problem for the 34-year-old.
15 – Lionel Messi is the player with the most shots this season in Ligue 1 without scoring (15 shots, 4 on goal). The Paris striker had not played five league games in a row without finding the net in the Top 5 European leagues since October 2020 (even 5). Shrewd. #PSGLOSC pic.twitter.com/xwCETKyhmj

Half time: PSG 0, Lille 1
Half time: Deserved advantage for the guests at half time. Lille have a game plan that works: jam the center, win the ball, and push the numbers forward when they win the ball. It worked to create several opportunities to start. During the first half, the Lille forwards began to switch positions and it was Burak Yilmaz on the left who delivered the cross which Jonathan David converted. PSG fails to pick up the pace. Neymar needs 10 touches every time he gets the ball, Messi is getting the ball centrally in traffic every time. Instead of pulling the ball out, PSG tries to get in the middle, making the game of Lille. The boos have been justified up to this point.
45 minutes: On PSG’s last chance before half-time whistles, Lionel Messi sends a free kick from 20 yards up and out of target.
43 minutes: Two straight corners for Lille and the PSG crowd let their team have it, whistling loudly to protest a poor home performance so far.
40 minutes: Chance for PSG! The home team is more dangerous when they suddenly accelerate with quick combinations and through ball passes. Ball stuck behind Angel Di Maria who tries to wrap the Lille goalkeeper with his left hand, but the ball ends up on the side.
31st minute: Goal Lilac! Burak Yilmaz is wide open on the left and his cross is hit on goal by Jonathan David for his 8th goal in Ligue 1.
27th minute: PSG’s lines are closer together and Lille don’t get along as easily as they did in the first 15 minutes. The Lillois may still regret not converting one of those occasions.
25 minutes: Neymar is trying to weave some magic, but nothing noteworthy outside of this nutmeg:
23rd minute: First shot of the PSG match. Lionel Messi, who has so far been ineffective in keeping the ball and engaging his teammates, finds Angel Di Maria for a shot which is saved by the Lille goalkeeper.
14th minute: What a ball from Burak Yilmaz for Jonathan Ikone who fails to convert with Gigi Donnarumma at his mercy. Lille have their first chances but are unable to convert.
12th minute: Lille have an attack-oriented lineup and once the visitors win the ball, they flood the attack with numbers. But the midfielders aren’t making the right passes (or the PSG defenders are doing a great job).
5th minute: It was back and forth with transitions in both directions. Reinildo stops one for PSG with a tackle that sends Angel Di Maria to the ground. He gets a yellow card for stopping an attack, but the left back took the whole ball. That was not the right call from the referee.
1st minute: What a parade by Gigi Donnarumma! Quick pass from Lille led by Jonathan Ikone, and striker Burak Yilmaz with a point blank shot that the Italian goalkeeper must deflect in a dive to stop for a corner. Nothing comes of it.
1st minute: Lionel Messi kicks off the match. PSG ball to start.
2:58 PM ET: And now the teams are out:
2:50 PM ET: The team’s mascots have already taken the field:
2:43 PM ET: The PSG women’s team receives the adulation of the fans section:
2:10 PM ET: Parc des Princes should be out and about again for PSG’s last home game.
2pm ET: All eyes will be on Neymar. He feels the heat and has been defensive in the media. At some point it needs to produce.
