Classic Star Trek Games Hit Steam, GOG.com

It's been a good time to be a Star Wars fan recently. There are new movies on the way, and a bunch of old games based on the universe have been added to digital stores lately, making them easier to find than ever. But what about the Star Trek fans?

GOG.com and Steam last week revealed that they're not being left out in the cold. Three classic Star Trek PC games are now available to purchase digitally from Steam and GOG.com, the retailers have announced.

The three games are:

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary - $6

The classic point-and-click adventure complete with voice acting, sound effects, and music from the classic TV show.

Star Trek: Judgment Rites - $6

A point-and-click sequel to the 25th Anniversary.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy - $6

Learn the basics of piloting a starship to become a captain of your very own vessel.

GOG.com and Interplay said they plan to unveil additional Star Trek classics in the near future, including more games that have never been digitally released before.

GTA 5 Getting Graphics Enhancing Mod

If you've ever seen graphically enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto IV on PC, chances are it was using a popular mod called iCEnhancer. Now, the creator of the mod Hayssam Keilany announced that he's iCEnhancer will support Grand Theft Auto V as well.

In the video you see below, the mod reduces the amount of fog, removes the blur effect on the background, changes the sun color, and some effects on characters.

It may not seem like much at this point, but the mod is still in a very early stage. It's a start, and given what iCEnhancer did for GTA IV, it could make GTA V look much more impressive soon.

Luckily, Rockstar has finally issued a statement claiming it isn't banning players for the use of single-player mods, so we can get mods like iCEnhancer and many others.

Watch This Scary Five Nights at Freddy's Fan Film

Horror game Five Nights at Freddy's has a very dedicated following that's created countless tribute, parody, and music videos, but the video below is one of the best we've seen yet.

Created by Typhoon Studios, the video shows us some of the events in Five Nights at Freddy's 3, cut in the style of a very effective horror movie.

If you want a feature-length Five Nights at Freddy's horror movie you'll be happy to know Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to the game. The movie doesn't yet have a director, cast, or script, but some high-profile Hollywood names have come aboard to produce it. Roy Lee (The Departed, The LEGO Movie) and Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions (the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel) are signed on as producers.

Creator Scott Cawthon also recently announced that he will release another game in the series, Five Nights at Freddy's 4: The Final Chapter this year.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Spotted on Brazilian Game Rating Site

Last month we heard rumors that a remastered version of Gears of War was in development and now we might have an official title for the game.

Classificação Indicativa, the Brazilian rating body, has listed a game called Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with the release date of 2015.

The same rating body also listed something called Dishonored Definitive Edition, which also has a release date of 2015.

Given the recent rumors, a Gears of War remastered for Xbox One seems likely, even if the Brazilian listing is inaccurate. We haven't heard the same rumors about Dishonored, though a remaster that includes all of the game's DLC certainly sounds plausible.

Last month, sources told Polygon that the Xbox One version of Gears of War features better lighting and improved texture quality. The publication adds that multiplayer runs at 60fps. In addition, the Gears of War HD Remaster will reportedly feature new cinematics.

Another source told Polygon that Splash Damage, the UK-based independent studio behind games like Brink and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, is handling development on the Gears of War HD remaster. Multiple job postings at the developer reference that the studio is currently working on a "very well known and highly popular AAA title with next gen technology."

Microsoft acquired the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games last year, putting its internal team Black Tusk Studios to work on a new entry in the action-shooter series for Xbox One. That project is separate from the reported remaster.

As for when Microsoft may officially announce the Gears of War HD Remaster, and maybe Black Tusk's new project, producer Rod Fergusson previously teased that fans should tune in to E3 in June. For its part, Microsoft has said its E3 presentation this year will focus on first-party games.

Microsoft has not offered any kind of statement whatsoever regarding the project.

Tekken 7's New Yoshimitsu Design Looks Like an Octopus

Bandai Namco has released a trailer for another Tekken 7 fighter, Yoshimitsu, who's looking creepier than ever.

Yoshimitsu has received a lot of significant redesigns over the years, and he has a new look for Tekken 7 as well. It looks like he still has the same core move set, with his signature pogo stick-like hopping on the tip of his sword, but now he looks like a mix between an alien and an octopus.

Tekken 7 was announced last year. The game, which is powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 4, is already in Japanese arcades, but Bandai Namco has yet to announce when the game will hit other platforms in other territories.

Payday 2 and DLC Gets Permanent Price Cut

More than a year after launch, the heist-themed cooperative first person shooter Payday 2 and its numerous DLC are getting a permanent price reduction, developer Overkill has announced.

"Heisters, we're thankful for your support thus far," Overkill said. "As we continue to develop Payday 2, working on additional free updates as well as paid DLC, we feel it's time to adjust the pricing of both Payday 2 as well as all DLC released during the first 16 months of its lifespan."

Console players who've been waiting for an updated version of the game will be happy to learn that 505 Games and Overkill on Thursday announced that Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of the heist-themed shooter, will arrive on June 16.

The new version of Payday 2 comes with more than two dozen DLC packs, including the Big Bank Heist, as well as the game's first female character, Clover. The Crimewave Edition also features enhanced visuals (compared to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions), including improved frame rate, better textures, and 1080p resolution.

Payday 2 was originally released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in summer 2013. For more, check out GameSpot's review.
